Background Rant Summary: The previous evening left me
with some unvented anger, I had a sprained ankle, and I just wasn't wasn't
focused.
I was slightly late to meet Darryl at 8am at Reimers because of some inconsiderate
people who made my #3 & #4 slots of climbers who've ever pissed me off.
Considering my temperment, and the thousand of climbers I've met, that's
saying a great thing about climbers. If there's a line of cars on your
ass on a one lane road for a half hour, most people would get a clue and
pull over - but not Mr.3 & Ms.4.
Ironically, I ran into #2 just this week on the greenbelt. His dogs bit
a whole in my jeans and my leg (and several of my friend's legs) a few
years ago at Homeros. This dude was a pretty hard core stoner, to say
the least, at the time. He and his mutts have mellowed a lot since, but
he wouldn't do a thing about them when we spoke to him at the time. He's
pissed at me for opening my mouth about how he used to be - so he likes
to rag on me and make snide comments whenever he sees me - which he did
again on the greenbelt this week. I was willing to let bygones be bygones,
and even climb with him, but he clearly hasn't changed that much. I know
I sometimes speak when I shouldn't, but I don't make up stories about
people, and it was his dogs that bit me and other climbers - so who's
the one who should be pissed? OK, Enough bitchin'. I've had enough awesome
things happen in the past week that I have no reason to complain. That
same day I ran into #2, I was climbing with Jason Perez. I managed to
lead a completely static, and formerly elusive, climb of Schoolboy Direct
at New Wall on the Greenbelt. Moreover, it was a manky, post-rain limestone
day at that.
I feel like I should write a story for the excellent former publication
that became Toprope.com
