Anyway, after all the usual climbs on the wall, someone egged me on to set up Bongo Fury. I didn't feel like leading it again, so Anna nicely moved our toprope over to the Bongo Fury anchors. I didn't do the climb clean but I had done it before and it wasn't that difficult. Jason however, had never been on it and there is one hanging picture below that sums up Epicmaster Jason's views of the climb. Trish did fairly well on it if I remember. Rubin then came along and decided that he had to lead it since he'd never been on it. As a 5.11 climb, I think it's a little sandbagged by Reimers standards. It isn't sustained, because the middle is easy, but the top and bottom each have thinner moves than anything on crankenstein (5.11d) or Liposuction (5.12a). If you can't make the difficult second clip, then you have to lower 20' to the ground to try again. Unfortunately, Rubin missed the onsight, but he did get the climb and I'm sure he'll be back for an easier redpoint the next time. |
