Although I lead Richard Pryor cleanly, we ran into a small snafu while Mark was cleaning. As he was starting up to clean, I noticed that, because I rappelled off the rappel rope Rick set on Crazy Alice, there was really no anchor on Richard Pryor. To recover, I had Mark tie into a second rope (the rappel rope running through the anchors) so that I could "double belay" with a gri-gri in one hand and an ATC in the other. In this scenario, should my top piece (a #2 camalot) have blown, Mark would have swung left towards Crazy Alice, but still have been safe - especially since I used a gri-gri on this rope. Anyway, this was careless on my part as the more-experienced climber, but fortunately caught before Mark got more than ten feet off the ground.
