It's a habit to climb Mt Scott on the final day because the parking is just above the climbing. There appeared to be a small crowd on Upper Mt Scott, so we stayed down on Lower. Mark did his second ever trad lead on Birthday Boy (5.6 RN). This actually got a little hairy when Mark ripped a yellow cow bell out and watched it slide down the rope to his first piece. Rick was coming down High Anxiety (5.8 RN) just to the right, so he came down with more gear for Mark. I was Not at all confident in Mark's first nut placement, which was protruding out of the rock it was on, but later inspection showed that it probably would have held. Either way, Mark kept going after Rick placed one bomber metolius cam in the middle of the route as a safety piece.
Minna then went on to practice placing gear on Birthday Boy while Kate top-roped High Anxiety - which was the only climb with anchors that I saw.
I then lead Teacup Arete (5.10 RN). The top was fairly disconcerting because it was not only too wide for a Number 5 Camelot but also too thin for me to fit into while carrying the big cams. There was a dearth of good placement areas and a rocky prominence below. A nice climber from Norman, OK took some pics while I climbed and Rick belayed.
