I completed the crazy runout finish of Teacup Arete by queezing as much of me into the right-hand off-width crack as I could. This was idfficult with #4, 4.5, and 5 camalots on my sling. I did manage to secure a final #3 cam in a crack inside the big crack that was at arms length. This would at least have kept me from landing on the sharp, pointed boulder below. When I climbed it on toprope just before leaving, I found it much easier to just stay on the outside and avoid the cracks altogether (but I still wouldn't go this way on lead). Rick and Mark both climbed it successfully on toprope.
We weren't super sweaty, but we did enjoy a brief dip in the Medicine Park swimming hole. Mark and Kate decided that it was colder than Barton Springs - which is quite possible because the water comes directly from the bottom of 300 acre lake Lawtonka.
